Trezor.io/Start® | Begin Your Crypto Journey Securely — Trezor®
Starting your cryptocurrency journey begins with one of the most critical decisions you’ll make: how to secure your digital assets. With cyber threats and hacking incidents on the rise, protecting your crypto should be your top priority. That's where Trezor® comes in — the original and trusted hardware wallet designed to give you complete control over your private keys and digital currencies.
This guide will walk you through the essential steps to set up your Trezor® hardware wallet safely and efficiently using the Trezor.io/Start® onboarding process.
Step 1: Inspect Your Device
Once you receive your Trezor® device, examine the packaging carefully. It should be sealed, with no signs of tampering. Every genuine Trezor product is packaged securely to prevent unauthorized access before it reaches you. If you suspect your package may have been compromised, do not use the device and contact Trezor support directly.
Step 2: Go to Trezor.io/Start®
To begin the setup process, open your preferred web browser and enter the address “Trezor.io/Start” manually. This official starting point will ensure you are guided through the correct steps based on your specific device model, whether it’s the Trezor Model One or the Trezor Model T.
Step 3: Download and Install Trezor Suite
Trezor Suite is the official desktop and browser interface used to manage your crypto portfolio securely. It allows you to send and receive assets, check balances, and manage accounts. Download Trezor Suite from the instructions shown on the Trezor.io/Start® page, and follow the prompts to install it on your device.
Step 4: Connect and Update Firmware
Plug your Trezor device into your computer using the supplied USB cable. The Trezor Suite will detect the device and may prompt you to install or update the firmware. It’s essential that firmware updates are only installed via the Trezor Suite to avoid counterfeit or malicious software.
Step 5: Create a New Wallet
Once your device is initialized, select the option to “Create a new wallet.” The device will generate a unique recovery seed — a series of 12 or 24 words. This seed is your master backup. Write it down by hand and store it securely offline. Never take a photo or store it digitally, as that could expose your funds to theft.
Step 6: Confirm the Recovery Seed
You will be asked to confirm your recovery seed to ensure it was written down correctly. This step is critical, as losing this seed means losing access to your assets permanently.
Step 7: Add and Manage Assets
With your wallet ready, you can begin receiving, sending, and managing cryptocurrencies. Trezor supports a wide range of assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and numerous ERC-20 tokens. You can also integrate your Trezor with popular crypto tools for enhanced functionality.
